Please read the following guidelines that are being implemented at East Leake Leisure Centre in order to provide a safe environment for both the public and staff during swimming lessons.
Update on Swimming Lesson’s Covid 19 Procedure
As restrictions are being lifted across the country, we are changing the way we have been operating during our swimming. Some things will remain in place to help provide a safe environment for both the public and staff during swimming lessons at East Leake Leisure Centre.
Upon Arrival to Swimming Lessons:
Please wait outside until 5 minutes before the lesson.
Please can children still arrive swim ready i.e., costume/bathers under clothes/dressing gown/onesie. Adults also swimming with their children will also need to arrive swim ready.
Once into the swimming pool hall your child can get ready for their lesson and head through the showers and walk round to where their designated area is on poolside and sit and wait for their lesson to begin.
Parents dropping their children off for swimming lessons will proceed to exit through the fire doors in the changing rooms. Signs will be provided to indicate where the exit is.
The adults will then have the choice to go and wait in their vehicle, sit outside or use the main entrance to go sit and wait in the dance studio or reception area until their children’s lesson has finished.
We are still asking customers to wear masks in communal indoor areas, they can become very crowded, especially during swimming lessons.
Collecting the children from their lesson:
2 Minutes before the lesson is due to end make your way to poolside and wait for your child to exit the pool through the showers.
All the cubicles are now open for use as is the group changing rooms at the end.
Any further details required please ring the reception desk – 01509 852956.
Warning – anyone not adhering to the guidelines put into place may be asked to leave the building.
We appreciate your support and understanding through these times.
At East Leake Leisure Centre, we will be running our excellent Activ Swim programme throughout the year. All swim classes are structured so that they are in line with the Amateur Swimming Association’s (ASA) National Plan for Teaching Swimming. The National Plan for Teaching Swimming offers a clearly defined progression from adult and child to competitive and adult swimmers.
The NPTS has been developed to use fun and games to take children from their first splash to full competence in the water via 10 stages. It is underpinned throughout by Long Term Athlete Development (LTAD) principles, with clear progression between each stage. Our programme goes on to include competitive swimming and rookie lifesaving which is run in conjunction with the Royal Life-Saving Society. If you are currently on our Activ Swim programme then you can view your child's progress by logging into the Home Portal. If you need your member record number please give us a call on 01509 852965 and we can email it out to the address on our system.
Adult & Child – Our adult & child classes provide the perfect introduction to the water for children aged from 6 months old. Through the use of toys, games and music, children are able to become familiar with the water in a safe, comfortable environment.
Adult Lessons - We offer adult swimming lessons for those who are looking to improve their stroke and for those who are complete beginners. Our lessons are mixed ability groups and run every Thursday 13.30-14.00. Contact reception to book your place.
121’s – We operate a waiting list for 121 swimming lessons for both adults and children. The lessons are purchased in blocks of four at a time to suite you.
